Your Ultrasound Appointment

Please bring your registered photo ID to your appointment and arrive 15 minutes prior. Visits usually last 1-2 hours.

Here's what the process looks like:

Check in & share basic medical history.
Take a pregnancy test. If positive, receive an ultrasound to confirm pregnancy, gestational age, and location.
Have a private, unhurried space to ask your questions and discuss your pregnancy options or concerns.

LIMITED ULTRASOUNDS DO:

Confirm whether the pregnancy appears viable
Detect a fetal heartbeat
Estimate how far along you are and your due date
Determine the number of fetuses
Identify situations where immediate medical attention may be needed

LIMITED ULTRASOUNDS DO NOT:

Determine the baby's sex
Diagnose fetal abnormalities
Replace ongoing prenatal care

Most appointments last about one to two hours. This allows time for a brief conversation with a Charis staff member, the ultrasound, and time to review your results and ask questions.

Not every pregnancy develops normally. An ultrasound can identify concerns that may require emergency medical care.
